For over 150 years, from its beginnings as a coach maker to the modern transport specialist of today, York Ward & Rowlatt has been providing a complete and professional service to the motorist from its base in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

An ongoing programme of re-investment in the staff and premises has ensured that York Ward & Rowlatt has developed into an award winning operation focusing on exceptional customer service. 

 
1841 - The business was founded as J York & Son - carriage and coach builders

1912 - York Ward Ltd became the registered company as the two separate businesses of York & Son coach builders and Ward Motor Makers merged

1920 - The company name changed again to recognise the substantial interest of the Rowlatt family

1958 - The sister company, Croyland Motors, formed as agents for Vauxhall cars and Bedford trucks starting the long and successful association with Vauxhall Motors that lasts to the present day

1987 - Grosvenor Contracts Leasing Ltd, the largest independent contract hire company in the UK, acquired the growing business and we relocated to our current location in St John's Street, Wellingborough

1998 - The business grew from strength to strength through the 1990's which resulted in record numbers of new and used Vauxhall sales.  We opened a new Masterfit Centre at Broad Green Wellingborough to assist in the aftersales care of our customers

2008 - The business at Broad Green was expanded to include a showroom and forecourt facility which enabled us to promote the sale of non-franchise used cars

 
Serving our community, and further afield, has been a privilege and a pleasure for over 150 years. Lip service is often paid to customer service but we truly believe that our history and longevity has only been possible because we put our customers at the heart of our business over the generations.

Through sophisticated recruitment programmes we have managed to recruit the people with the right "raw material" and have then invested in comprehensive training through the Vauxhall College as well as our own in-house management to ensure they reach their potential and, more importantly, exceed your expectations.
